Story:

Every new RPG has a different story to tell, this is the story of The Legends of Ellaria.

As the king of an old clan that was once part of a powerful empire you are in the world of Marra in search of RiftStone. Riftstone is a powerful resource which is the base of all magic and the cause of many wars.

The wars over the precious Riftstone have left the world of Marra in desolation, a barren wasteland. You hold the final Riftstone and plan to travel through the rift to find its source. Travelling through the rift will bring you to a new and magical world called Ellaria.

Arrival in Ellaria

Once you arrive in Ellaria you will find that you are not alone. The old clans have also found their way into this magical world. You will face off against the Warrior, Builder, and Wizard clans. You will have to use strategy, war, and diplomacy to outsmart and outgun these other clans.

Larkon Studios are the developer and publisher of the awesome new RPG Legends of Ellaria. Starting out as a two man team they have seemed to pull off a near impossible achievement. I took some time to read their developer blog and I will say if it is anything… it is inspiring.

The folks at Larkon have worked long hours and without even knowing what type of payoff to expect, they continue to put everything they have into this game. They listen to their community members and they have reworked things to bring everyone a game they are sure to enjoy. How does the FPS/RTS switch work in Legends of Ellaria?

With the simple press of a button your screen will load into either FPS or RTS mode. If you need to give your army orders, switch to RTS, then go right back into FPS by pressing the same button. The switch is limited in certain quest areas and players can freely choose to focus on either playstyle.

I don’t want to manage; I just want to quest and fight, is that possible?

Yes, there are monsters and treasure spread throughout the lands of Ellaria. You will have the option to command an advisor to manage and expand the kingdom using some automated AI. This allows you to grow your kingdom while you grow your experience and coffers.

Do I need to fight alone?

No. As the ruler of your kingdom you can command your armies from the safety of your own kingdom. Send your soldiers out to explore and conquer the lands. The entire game can be played from this standpoint if you wish.

What are Special Quest Areas?

These are special areas such as caves and ruins. These quests contain challenges, but the potential rewards may be worth it.

Legends of Ellaria early access begins on July 28^th 2017. The game is still in its late development stages; however this will allow a larger player base in to give more feedback. Legends of Ellaria has so much to offer, and a lot of love went into this game. While it is hard to say right now just how good it is going to be, I will say I look forward to playing it. The idea of open ended games that let you make your own decisions (non-linear) is a great concept and it makes gaming that much more fun. I loved it in Ghost Recon Wildlands, it didn’t matter which order you did your quests, it all led to the same end result.
